Easton task force appoints Schulyer Sherwood chair, sets schedule for capital-planning review

At a special meeting on June 24, 2026, the Town of Easton’s newly constituted Infrastructure & Facilities Review Task Force appointed Schulyer Sherwood as chair and Selectman Nick D'Addario as secretary, agreed an initial meeting calendar and reviewed its advisory charge to evaluate municipal facilities and long-range capital needs.
A motion was made and seconded to appoint Schulyer Sherwood as chair and carried unanimously. A separate motion to appoint Selectman Nick D'Addario as secretary also carried unanimously. The minutes do not identify who moved or seconded the motions.
Members agreed to hold meetings at 7:00 p.m., starting with one meeting per month during the summer and transitioning to twice-monthly meetings in September. The Task Force adopted these meeting dates: July 22; August 26; September 9 and 23; October 14 and 28; November 11; and December 9. The chair will file the schedule with the Town Clerk and post agendas as required.
The Task Force reviewed its charge as an advisory body tasked with developing recommendations on municipal facilities, infrastructure and long-term capital planning. Members discussed several guiding principles for the group’s work: creating a comprehensive inventory of town-owned facilities and infrastructure; evaluating building conditions and major systems; identifying deferred maintenance and capital-improvement needs; and preparing recommendations to support a five- to ten-year capital plan.
The minutes record several methodological approaches the Task Force plans to use: gathering facility and infrastructure information from department heads; developing a standardized format for asset and maintenance data; considering life-cycle replacement of major municipal assets; conducting site visits; reviewing opportunities to improve facility utilization and project sequencing; and exploring state and federal funding options, including grants and bonding where appropriate. The minutes note that no formal policy actions were taken at the meeting.
