Scott council approves downtown sale and advances plan to buy building for emergency services center

The Scott City Council on Oct. 7 unanimously adopted Resolution 2021-29 authorizing the mayor to execute a cooperative endeavor agreement and act of sale with Lafayette Parish for the property at 905 Cayret St., located downtown across from the farmers market.
Separately, Councilman Montoucet moved to adopt Resolution 2021-19 to authorize purchase of property owned by Bergeron/Granger LLC at 320 Rue Bon Secours. The minutes state the 13,000-square-foot building on 2.9 acres is intended to become the city's third Emergency Services Center and that the item will appear on the Bond Commission agenda scheduled for Oct. 21. The transcript does not record a final council vote on that purchase at this meeting.
The council recorded no public comment on either item during the meeting. The cooperative sale for 905 Cayret St. was authorized; the 320 Rue Bon Secours purchase is pending Bond Commission consideration and any subsequent required approvals.
