Town of Union board approves $651,716 curb-and-gutter contract, signal design authorization and other public works awards

The Town of Union Board on April 15 adopted a series of capital-project resolutions to advance local infrastructure work and replace fleet equipment.
The board authorized Barton & Loguidice to provide professional engineering, design, right-of-way incidentals and acquisition services for the Hooper Road/Pruyne Street signal replacement project at a cost not to exceed $182,000. The resolution was filed by the Capital Projects & Public Works committee and carried unanimously.
The board awarded the curb-and-gutter and sidewalk replacement contract to Tre-Gen Concrete Corp for the low bid of $651,716 and awarded underdrain installations and connections at miscellaneous locations to R.B. Magliocca Construction for $72,502. Each award was moved and seconded by committee members and recorded as adopted.
Separately, bid documents for a 2026 or newer diesel 4x2 truck chassis with a 23-cubic-yard side-loader full-eject recycling body were received from G-S Products ($284,584); a motion to receive the bid was made by Councilman Thomas R. Augostini and seconded by Councilman Frank J. Bertoni and carried. The board later adopted the award to G-S Products as the low bidder.
Why it matters: The authorizations and contract awards accelerate street, sidewalk and drainage work and replenish municipal equipment. The combined awards total several hundred thousand dollars and will determine contractors and schedules for upcoming capital projects.
