River Ridge CDD accepts resignation of Seat 1 supervisor, launches replacement process

The River Ridge Community Development District accepted the resignation of Supervisor James Gilman (Seat 1, term expires November 2026) at its Aug. 27 meeting and began steps to solicit candidates to fill the unexpired term.
Mrs. Cleo Adams presented Mr. Gilman’s resignation letter. The board discussed the process for filling the vacancy and agreed that, because this appointment will fill the seat until the next election, staff and Mr. Long would ask The Meadows’ POA Manager and Mr. Long to e‑blast residents about the vacancy and the candidate qualification requirements and request resumes or letters of interest prior to the board’s next meeting. The board deferred formal appointment action to a future agenda package that will include submitted resumes and an oath-of-office packet.
As part of the transition, staff reviewed onboarding materials that will be provided to any appointee, including required ethics training, Form 1 instructions, Sunshine Amendment and Code of Ethics guidance, and Form 8B (memorandum of voting conflict). On motion by Mr. Blumenthal and seconded by Mr. Twombly, the board accepted Mr. Gilman’s resignation, with all in favor.
The board’s next agenda will include candidate materials for Seat 1 and related administrative steps for swearing in and disclosure filings.
