Waynetown council unanimously approves pay increase for certified wastewater operator

Clerk-Treasurer Sandy Proctor said she adjusted the ordinance so the full cost of the raise would come from the Wastewater Fund rather than other utility funds. Council members discussed the funding change before voting.
Barry Lewis moved to pass Ordinance 2025-005 (2026 Salary Ordinance — Amendment #2) on first reading; Doug Harris seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The council then voted to suspend the rules and consider the ordinance the same day, and approved second and third readings and final passage that evening; each recorded vote was 5-0.
Council members said the change reflects that responsibilities the town previously contracted to UMAC will now be performed by Warren in-house following his certification. Clerk-Treasurer Sandy Proctor confirmed the raise will be charged to the Wastewater Fund.
