Lake maintenance update: compressor noise reduced but tone remains; Edgewater plantings delayed

At the July 23 meeting, Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes told the Board that lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in generally good condition, though seasonal algae growth was observed and a palm tree on the shoreline of Lake E7A was removed.
Kurth said a cabinet installed around the compressor at Masters Lake reduced the sound level from 64 to 52 decibels, which he said places the sound level halfway between the compressor system and the screen line and is, in his view, acceptable. Operations Manager Shane Willis cautioned that the concern is not only decibel level but the tone of the aerator, saying the issue “is not so much about the decibels but it is the tone of the aerator.” Staff agreed to coordinate with Bill and Alex Kurth about potentially moving the compressor and to report findings at the next meeting.
Chair Schultz summarized flooding concerns at Edgewater and discussed installing piping, additional littorals on Lake E4‑A and rip‑rap. The Board agreed no Canna lilies should be planted; Mr. Kurth said plantings in Lake E4‑A will be delayed until an agreement is reached with the Edgewater Association. Mr. Kurth left the call after his report.
Separately, Operations Manager Willis presented the annual quality assurance audit for lake maintenance and dry retention, reporting high water levels this year but overall compliance with dry retention areas and improved lake conditions under the contractor.
