Fruitport committee discusses bus RFP as student ridership rises

Business services staff told the Business and Finance Committee on Oct. 13 that Fruitport Community Schools needs to issue a request for proposals to purchase one or two regular-education buses as ridership increases.
Mark Mesbergen raised the need for a bus RFP, noting that several routes are nearing capacity. A projection provided by a staff member identified only as Brad said the district may need an additional regular-education route next year.
The committee discussed the RFP need but recorded no formal motion or procurement decision at the meeting; staff will prepare specifications and a timeline for procurement as appropriate.
