Byron City approves jail repairs, court amnesty program, surplus of aging fire vehicle and BMP maintenance agreement

Byron City Mayor and Council voted unanimously Feb. 8, 2021 to authorize several operational actions affecting city facilities, court receivables and public works.
The council awarded a bid of $4,342 to JB Walker Homes for repair work at the old city jail on a motion by Alan Dorsey, seconded by Chris Hodges. In the same segment the council approved a Court Amnesty Program to collect outstanding balances and unpaid citations dating back to 2010; the program is scheduled to run from March 1 through Oct. 1 (motion by Chris Hodges, seconded by James Richardson). Both votes were unanimous.
Council declared a 1997 Chevrolet 2500 surplus following a previous recommendation to perform minimal repairs; the surplus motion was made by Chris Hodges and seconded by Michael Chumbley and carried unanimously. The council also authorized the mayor to execute a BMP Permanent Maintenance Agreement with Project Development and Management, LLC for Timber Ridge Phase 4/Forest Ridge Phase 2 (motion by Chris Hodges, seconded by Michael Chumbley).
