Board of Assessors votes to join Community Resilience Partnership, seeks grant support

Tamra Benson, representing the Center for Energy, Built Environment (CEBE), told the Board that participating communities can access technical assistance and may be eligible for Community Resilience Partnership grants of up to $75,000 in non-matching funds. Benson outlined a step-by-step process involving a community assessment, identification of resilience actions, and adoption of recommended strategies, and said CEBE supports communities through enrollment and early grant preparation.
The Board approved a motion by Assessor Lisa Kinsman, seconded by First Assessor Rodney Varney, to proceed with the next steps necessary to participate. The Board also authorized the execution of a letter of support using the template provided by CEBE; the letter must be submitted prior to the program deadline on Aug. 15.
Ethna L. Thompson, BOA Secretary, will work with staff and CEBE to finalize the required documentation and submit the support letter before the deadline. The Board did not specify particular projects for grant funding at the meeting; project identification is expected to follow the community assessment and planning steps described by CEBE.
The decision authorizes staff to complete enrollment-related tasks but does not commit the Plantation to any specific capital projects or matching funding requirements beyond those outlined in CEBE guidance.
