Byron council adopts five ordinances, approves resolutions and awards public-works contracts

The Byron City Council on March 8 adopted five ordinances in second readings and approved multiple resolutions and contract awards addressing municipal administration, code updates and infrastructure work.
Ordinances adopted unanimously included Ordinance #2021-1 (amending standing committees), #2021-2 (Chapter 1, General Provisions), #2021-3 (Chapter 2, Administration), #2021-4 (Chapter 4, Alcoholic Beverages) and #2021-5 (Chapter 6, Animals). Each ordinance was approved on second reading with motions and unanimous votes documented in the minutes.
Council also approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to execute an agreement with Judicial Alternatives of Georgia for probation services and a supplemental contract with the Municipal Gas Authority of Georgia and Jointly Owned Natural Gas to continue a long-term gas supply program for members. Both resolutions were approved unanimously and are recorded as on file with the City Clerk.
On procurement and capital projects, council awarded TMT Utilities the contract to perform Phase 1 of the Dogwood Lane storm drainage improvements, approved Town & Country Landscaping to clean two city-owned detention ponds, and authorized easement negotiations needed for the CIP H project. Each of those motions passed unanimously.
Other recorded actions during the meeting included approval of the Byron Fire Department's request to surplus specific equipment and an update to the Administration Schedule of Fees (the minutes record that incident reports are to be charged at $0.10 per page). The meeting adjourned at 6:27 p.m.
