Shamrock Lakes board approves $6,800 crack-seal contract for town streets

A majority of the Shamrock Lakes town board voted to authorize Campbell Pavement Company to perform crack sealing on town streets for $6,800, the board said during its meeting.

Board members reviewed the Campbell bid and budget line items available for road repair. Members discussed a required payment-deposit provision and confirmed the town cannot pay contractors before work is completed under state law; the vendor provided new insurance information and the board agreed to pay on invoice after satisfactory completion. The board also noted discrepancies between the contractor’s footage estimates and the board’s own measurements and said it would verify linear feet before final payment.

The board discussed funding sources for the work and identified several road-repair lines that could cover the expense, including an MBH line and other repair-street funds. One board member said the $6,800 quote to seal cracks across the town was “a good investment,” and another member said the work should be completed before winter.

After a motion to approve the expenditure and a second, the board voted to carry the motion. The board asked staff to request a formal estimate for a separate parking-lot paving item before approving it.

The board instructed staff to follow up on the contractor’s insurance documentation and to verify footage and work quality before releasing final payment. No formal amendment to the motion was recorded. The board will monitor the work and hold final payment until the town confirms the job meets the contract terms.
