Council hears update on amphitheater funding and park field readiness

City staff told council they secured additional funding from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources for the planned downtown amphitheater and that the project is moving forward.
Staff said the city is coordinating with its engineer and the project's contractor; after the bidding process the city would likely begin construction around July with an estimated two- to three-month build timeline. Staff cautioned that while some limited fall use might be possible, full public use of the amphitheater is likely next spring.
Councilors also discussed adjacent recreation amenities: concession stands, restrooms and dugouts for the new baseball and softball fields are in place or near completion, and staff expects the fields to be usable for the spring season once finishing work and dugout installation are complete.
The council indicated continued support and asked staff to return with updates on construction scheduling and any major procurement decisions.
