Council adopts ordinance adding two public-works laborer positions; updates public meeting notice rules

At its Feb. 16 meeting, Louisville City Council adopted Ordinance 26-09, an amendment to the city's table of organization and employment provisions, and moved two other ordinances forward for additional consideration.
Ordinance 26-09: A staff explanation said the ordinance adds two laborer positions that will be filled in lieu of operator positions in the public-works department. After a motion and a second, council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance.
Ordinance 26-11: Council also advanced Ordinance 26-11 for first reading. Staff described the amendment as a modernization of the notice-of-public-meeting rules to permit online postings and posting at city hall while removing obsolete options such as telegraph and oral notices. Council members praised staff for improving online access to meetings. The motion to move Ordinance 26-11 forward passed by recorded vote.
Ordinance 26-10 (parks schedule) was also brought forward for first reading and will be discussed again at the parks committee and in a future council meeting.
Votes recorded at the meeting for the ordinances that received action were recorded on the roll call: Gdone, Mallister Atkins, Street and Aljansk voted yes on the items moved during this session. The council did not attach additional conditions in this meeting.
