Hicksville officials report completed water-main work, splash pad approval and other service updates

Administrator Cory Wann told the council that Hohenbrink finished the village’s water-main replacement work, including new service lines, hydrants and valves; trench patching will remain until Gerken Paving can mill and repave the two streets affected.
Wann also said the Ohio Department of Health has approved the splash pad installation, including the double slide feature, and that Baumann Enterprises is scheduled to mobilize equipment from July 19–22 with crane work July 24–25; the overall timeline for that project is about two weeks, weather permitting. He added that CSX crossings have temporary handrails and walls and that new rails were installed at local overpasses; the village is awaiting further details from CSX on additional work.
Police Chief Mark Denning reported fiber-optic installation for the MARCS tower is complete and expected to be operational in two to four weeks. Fire/EMS Chief Darrick Crochran said he has spoken with a FEMA grant writer and asked the PFE Committee to set a Zoom meeting; he also said 11 recruits are enrolled in an August Fireman I class and described planned community Safety Week activities. EMS Chief Bruce Silcott said a new ambulance will arrive Tuesday, with graphics and radios to be installed over the next two weeks and an expected in-service date by month’s end; he also noted discussions with the Delaware chief about county fair coverage and recommended routine maintenance for unit 510.
The council did not take formal votes on these operational updates; staff said they will return with more details as contractors and external agencies provide schedules and confirmations.
