Monroe council approves lead remediation contract, HUD grant application and multiple equipment bids

At its May 26 meeting the Monroe City Council approved several routine but consequential items across departments, including a lead-remediation contract, a HUD grant application, engineering amendments and multiple procurement awards.
Key approvals included Resolution No. 9135 authorizing a contract with Henry Rose Construction, LLC for lead remediation at 2408 South Grand; Resolution No. 9136 authorizing the City to apply for additional HUD Older Adult Home Modification grant funding; and Resolution No. 9137 authorizing state appropriation agreements for residential redevelopment projects in Bryant’s Addition. Engineering items approved included acceptance of substantial completion for the Civic Center Drainage Repairs-South Parking Lot Project and amendments/extensions with Neel-Schaffer, Waggoner Engineering and a task order with Volkert, Inc.
The council also accepted bids for police equipment and uniforms (Resolutions No. 9139–9141). For the Airport Airfield Marking Project, council authorized advertising for bids on an estimated $600,000 project; Airport Director Charles Butcher said the FAA would fund roughly 95% while the State would provide the remaining 5%, requiring no city funds.
There were no public objections during these agenda items. Councilmembers approved the items on generally unanimous votes and asked for follow-up reporting where applicable.
