Police Chief Mark Denning told the Hicksville Village Council on Nov. 18 that residents have complained about discs from a nearby frisbee golf course landing in private yards and asked how officers should handle trespassing or retrieval of discs. Solicitor Rachel Hammersmith said she would research relevant case law and return with guidance.
Fire/EMS Chief Darrick Crochran thanked mutual aid partners after a recent fire, defended the department’s response, and updated council on a FEMA grant and turnout-gear purchases. EMS Chief Bruce Silcott reported the service had completed 630 runs for the year with 29 runs in November and $107,000 collected; he said Rebecca Somers will move from part time to full time immediately and Cloey Whitman will move to full time in 2025.
Council approved a motion to hire part-time EMT Eric McClain (moved by Ron Beverly, seconded by Toni Egly), the minutes show. The meeting record does not include public testimony on the frisbee golf matter; Solicitor Hammersmith’s review of applicable law was the only action noted on that complaint during the session.
The council adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
