Monroe council approves range of resolutions, contract authorizations and revokes alley in unanimous votes

At its March 24 meeting the Monroe City Council unanimously approved a slate of resolutions and minute entries that authorize contracts, advertise for bids and approve event‑related exceptions.
Resolutions approved included No. 9099, a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with HAMPCO, Inc. to support community inclusion activities; No. 9100 and No. 9101 granting open‑container exceptions for two public events (Doc Chilly/First Sunday at the Zoo music festival, and the Twin City Art Foundation Off The Wall fundraiser at the Masur Museum); and No. 9102 appointing Larry Bratton to the Downtown Economic Development District (DEDD) board of commissioners.
The Purchasing Division received authorization to advertise for bids for the G.B. Cooley House Rehabilitation Project (estimated cost $825,000) and for Transit Bus purchases with cost estimates of $778,000–$876,000 (diesel) and $1,400,000–$1,500,000 (electric). The council also approved a contract authorization with Bright Construction LLC for lead remediation at 4315 Pippen Street and a HOME Investment Partnerships Program agreement with AHAYAH Community Development Corporation (CHDO) for rehabilitation at 3903 Lionel Street.
The council approved a Service Agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for Police Communications and Recording Systems and approved Change Order No. 1 for the WPCC GOHSEP Statewide 5% Generators Initiative Project. On second reading the council adopted Ordinance No. 12,287 revoking a 14‑ft by 150‑ft portion of an alley near Pear/Peach/Railroad/Jackson.
Votes on the above motions were recorded in the minutes as unanimous among members present. The approvals move procurement and project planning steps forward; several items (advertisements and LOIs) will generate future contracts and appropriation considerations.
