Canby council accepts donations, clears vendor payments and okays temporary liquor license

Canby — At its June 9 meeting, the Canby City Council unanimously adopted two resolutions accepting donations and authorized budget adjustments, approved a temporary liquor license for the YMC Fair Association contingent on updated insurance documentation, and approved May vendor transactions totaling $368,433.02.
Resolution No. 2026-06-09-2 accepts an anonymous donation designated for Canby Theater restoration projects and directs the City Administrator to make appropriate revenue and expenditure budget adjustments, noting Minnesota Statutes 465.03 on acceptance of gifts. Resolution No. 2026-06-09-3 accepts a donation from the family of Jerry Baer to fund a memorial bench to be placed at Central Park; the City Administrator is likewise authorized to adjust the budget.
The council approved a temporary liquor license for the YMC Fair Association for July 23–25 on a motion by Marisa Kack, seconded by Susan Cram; the approval was contingent on submission of an updated liquor license insurance certificate. The council also reviewed and approved May vendor transactions in the amount of $368,433.02 on a motion by Diana Fliss, seconded by Susan Cram.
Matt Wagner briefed the council on the Flights & Kites Festival scheduled for June 21. Following routine business and the administrator’s report, the council adjourned.
Next steps: The City Administrator will make the budget adjustments required to record the accepted donations and will confirm receipt of the updated insurance certificate before issuance of the temporary liquor license.
