Montgomery County Commission approves routine consent items, bid award and travel requests; recesses to executive session

Montgomery County commissioners held a formal session April 14 and approved routine minutes, consent items and several departmental requests before recessing to an executive session on potential litigation.

At the start of the meeting, Chairman Doug Singleton called the session to order at 10:00 a.m., staff confirmed a quorum and there were no citizen comments. The commission voted unanimously to approve the March 17, 2026 minutes and routine accounts payable and payroll checks on the consent agenda.

Among the items approved during new-business and consent actions: the sale of three decommissioned Sheriff’s Office vehicles, approval of an updated Nationwide Financial Services Governmental 457(b) Plan Adoption Agreement to reflect Secure 2.0 changes, and a professional-services contract for the 2026 tax sale (separately reported). The commission also approved a low bid of $493,000 from Roofing Solutions for the exterior renovation of 350 Adams Ave., noting the project had been budgeted at $700,000 in the FY 2026 budget.

The commission approved miscellaneous appropriations to local agencies and education organizations and authorized travel and training requests submitted by multiple departments. Department-level travel packet entries in the agenda include conferences and training through summer 2026; all travel requests were approved unanimously.

Before adjourning, County Attorney Connie Walker presented a letter requesting an executive session to discuss potential litigation. The Commission recessed to the executive session and later approved a motion to adjourn the Formal Session at 11:05 a.m.

What happens next: Administrative staff will finalize contract documents and process payments and appropriations authorized April 14. The executive-session discussion on potential litigation will not be discussed publicly per the county’s cited legal exemptions.
