Castanza seconded a resolution authorizing resurfacing Butler Mill Road (CR‑23) from Liberty Church/West Old Hayneville Road (CR‑24) north 5.7 miles to the CSX railroad right‑of‑way (Project No. MCP 51‑04‑26). A county engineer’s memo from George Speake states the resolution is required by ALDOT for projects using MPO funding and lists financing as 80% Federal (MPO) and 20% county gasoline‑tax match.
The commission also adopted a resolution to widen, level, resurface and traffic‑stripe Gibson/Goodwyn Road (CR‑65) from Mt. Zion Road (CR‑39) east 4.3 miles to SR‑53 (US‑231) (Project No. MCP 51‑05‑26); the engineer’s memo again describes an 80/20 federal/county funding split.
In procurement action, the commission approved a bid award to McDonald Construction Company, Inc. for Elton N. Dean Sr. Park off‑road improvements. Procurement documents included with the minutes identify McDonald Construction as the lowest responsive bidder and include contract terms, insurance requirements and the cited proposal amount in the procurement packet.
