Residents press MAC for patrols, crossing guard and fence near Zimmerman Elementary

CHP Officer Sandoval reported a recent fatal incident on the I-210 and urged the public to wear seatbelts, avoid drinking and driving and refrain from arguing while driving. Code Enforcement distributed handouts on building-and-safety contacts and Dump Days; staff and residents described recurring illegal dumping and asked for increased patrols and coordination with the school to add locks to a dumpster.
Israel Fuentes of the Colton Joint Unified School District said the district is in its second week of school, noted improvements such as new paint and open houses, and expressed concern about a combined lunch schedule that may leave some students with insufficient time to eat. A resident and MAC member Teresa Escoto requested a crossing guard at El Rivinio Rd and Hall Avenue and requested a fence to address a rise in homelessness near the new Zimmerman Elementary School to protect children.
