Carencro honors educators, presents donation to veterans group and fills school board vacancy

At its April 20 meeting, the Carencro City Council presented a $2,060 check to Kevin Breaux of the Acadiana Veterans Alliance from proceeds of the Brunch and Beats cookoff. Nicole Girard with the LSU Agriculture Center recognized students who placed in parish and national competitions, and John Harris, assistant principal at Carencro Middle School, announced Leaders of the Month.
Councilmember Jordan Arceneaux read a proclamation honoring Carencro High School Principal Vanessa Knott on her retirement; the council and audience offered congratulations. Mayor Charlotte Clavier announced that Mr. Ted Davidson has been appointed to fill the vacant Lafayette Parish School Board District 2 seat and that he intends to run for the seat in the November 2026 election.
The council also noted a slate of upcoming community events, including Keep Carencro Beautiful (Apr. 25), the Carencro High School FFA black pot cookoff (Apr. 25), Full Moon Market (May 2), National Prayer Day (May 7) and the Farmers Market at Carencro Park (May 9).
