Carencro council approves Pelican Park sewer acceptance, public‑records fee and Cormier Road agreement

Councilmember Antoine Babineaux moved to adopt Resolution No. 2026‑001, directing the mayor to execute an Act of Acceptance from contractor C.G. Logan Construction, LLC for the Pelican Park Sewer Extension; Councilmember Alfred Sinegal seconded, and the motion carried. Councilmember Danielle Capritto moved to approve Resolution No. 2026‑003, which adds a fee for producing and transmitting electronic public‑records copies; Sinegal seconded and the motion was approved. Councilmember Taylor James moved to approve Resolution No. 2026‑004, authorizing an intergovernmental agreement with Lafayette Parish for Cormier Road surface improvements; Capritto seconded and the motion carried.
The council also handled routine business: members voted to adopt the minutes of the Dec. 15, 2025 regular meeting (motion by Babineaux, seconded by Sinegal) and voted to table the financial reports after a motion by Danielle Capritto and a second from Taylor James.
Not all measures advanced. Resolution No. 2026‑002, setting a procedure for participation in open meetings by people with ADA‑recognized disabilities, was moved by Taylor James and seconded by Danielle Capritto but was tabled by the council.
The meeting lasted about 30 minutes and adjourned at 6:30 p.m. The council did not provide vote tallies in the meeting record for the adopted resolutions; motions were announced as "approved" in the minutes.
