Dodge County fire chief seeks Service Delivery Strategy renegotiation to boost ISO rating

Fire Chief Malcolm Tyson updated the Dodge County Board of Commissioners at the May 18 work session that he had met with officials from the City of Eastman and that the parties generally favored renegotiating the county’s Service Delivery Strategy. Tyson said the effort is aimed at improving the county’s Insurance Services Office (ISO) rating, increasing future service levels and clarifying the department’s geographic coverage.
The report to the commissioners was presented as an informational update; Tyson framed the renegotiation as a planning step to align fire-response areas and insurance-rating factors. Improving an ISO rating can affect homeowners’ insurance premiums and reflects how well organized and resourced fire protection services are, Tyson told the board. No formal motion or vote was recorded on the item during the work session.
Chairman Dan McCranie presided over the meeting and recorded the update for the work-session record. The board did not take action on the Service Delivery Strategy at this session.
