Southwest Public Schools board adopts Policy 3061, approves $0.10 meal fee increase and accepts $7,500 CTE grant purchases

The Southwest Public Schools Board of Education met June 15, 2026, in Bartley and approved several routine governance items, including adoption of Policy 3061 and a $0.10 increase in student meal fees across all categories.
Board Chair Duane Teter called the meeting to order at 7:32 p.m. and the board moved, without opposition among members present, to excuse absent trustees Jason Neseth and John O’Dea. The board approved the meeting agenda, the May 18 minutes and the claims presented for payment.
The board authorized the sale of surplus district items and approved revisions to Policy 2008, Policy 3003, Policy 3004.1 and Policy 3048. The board also adopted Policy 3061 following a motion that passed with all members present voting Aye. The board approved advancing discussion/approval of Policy 5045 (Student Fees), which includes a $0.10 increase applied to all meal categories.
Superintendent Drew Billeter reported the district received a 2026 CTE (Career and Technical Education) grant totaling $7,500; the grant funds were used to purchase floor jacks and other equipment. Billeter said a Child Nutrition Audit—conducted every five years—was completed at the elementary level. He also announced that staff, student and activity handbooks for 2026–2027 will be delivered electronically and signed with DocuSign to reduce paper use and handling.
Billeter reported for Principal Fries that elementary teachers have been engaged in summer professional development through the ESU. The board adjourned at 8:10 p.m. The next regular meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at the Southwest Junior-Senior High School in Bartley.
