Penn Forest supervisors approve maintenance contracts, repairs and park funding

Penn Forest Township supervisors unanimously approved a series of routine financial and maintenance items at their April 6 meeting, including the township’s treasurer’s report, contracts for traffic-signal maintenance and multiple vehicle and equipment repairs.
Chairman Roger Meckes moved to accept the March 2026 treasurer’s report, which the board approved subject to audit. The board also voted to pay the bills for March 2026.
In new business, the board approved Kuharchik Construction’s 2026 traffic signal maintenance proposal. Supervisors voted to release $49,200 in fire-escrow funds for a permit at 5 Dana Court and to permit the Jim Thorpe Police Department to pursue PennDOT to install a temporary traffic light at Route 903 and Maury Road, contingent on Jim Thorpe Borough covering associated payments.
Supervisor Patrick Holland presented and the board ratified multiple equipment repairs and maintenance actions, including a backhoe hydraulic-hose repair ($201.89), a backhoe repair ($4,168.61), work on transfer-station compactors ($4,214.48) and vehicle repairs to township pickups. The board approved routine purchases including road signs ($1,027.50) and a small lumber purchase for the park ($49.86), and accepted a PenTeleData 36-month internet renewal for the Transfer Station at $86.95 per month.
Park and Recreation items approved included a $5,000 budget allocation and staff coverage for the July 4 event, approval for an April 26 Alzheimer’s fundraiser to use the walking trail and concession stand (contingent on required documents), and permission for Special Olympics to use the walking trail August–November during specified days and times.
All motions recorded in the minutes show unanimous roll-call approval. The board adjourned at 8:33 p.m.; reminders were given for May and April commission meetings.
