Harpersville council approves $1,050 in local sponsorships and routine payments

At its June 1 meeting the Harpersville Town Council unanimously approved $50 for a Coosa Valley Academy advertisement and a $1,000 stadium‑level sponsorship for the Vincent 2026–27 football program, and also approved routine minutes and invoices.
Harpersville Mayor Theoangelo Perkins presided over a June 1, 2026 Town Council meeting at the Harpersville Community Center where the council approved two local sponsorships and routine financial items.
Councilmember William Carter moved, and Councilmember Malynda McLaughlin seconded, to approve the meeting agenda, and the motion passed by unanimous voice vote. The council next approved the May 4, 2026 minutes after a motion from Councilmember Martin Dates and a second from Councilmember McLaughlin; the May 18 meeting had been canceled owing to the May 19 election and so had no minutes to approve.
The Town Clerk/Treasurer presented invoices for payment. Councilmember Beverly Johnson moved to approve all invoices as submitted; Councilmember Dates seconded and the council approved them by unanimous voice vote.
Under old business the council considered Resolution 2026-05-04-01, a request to fund a sponsored advertisement to Coosa Valley Academy for its Serve Day. Councilmember William Carter moved to approve a $50 sponsored advertisement to Coosa Valley Academy; Councilmember Beverly Johnson seconded. The motion carried by unanimous voice vote, and Mayor Perkins declared the motion passed.
Under new business the council considered Resolution 2026-06-01 to approve a sponsorship to the Vincent football program for the 2026–27 season. Councilmember Ryan Harry moved to approve a stadium-level sponsorship in the amount of $1,000; Councilmember Johnson seconded. The council approved the sponsorship by unanimous voice vote.
Councilmembers heard monthly departmental reports; no formal action was taken on those reports during the meeting. Clerk Amber Gardner announced upcoming meetings including a council work session and regular meeting on June 15 at the Harpersville Senior Center, a Harpersville Water Board meeting on June 8, and a Planning and Zoning Board meeting on June 15.
With no further business, Councilmember Beverly Johnson moved to adjourn; Councilmember Dates seconded and the meeting was adjourned. The meeting minutes were signed by Mayor Theoangelo Perkins and attested by Town Clerk/Treasurer Amber Gardner.
