At the Feb. 24 Village of Rothschild board meeting, members voted to reauthorize a previously approved purchase of snowplow equipment for a DPW wheel loader.
Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle told the board the expenditure of $56,687 had been approved by the board on Sept. 23, 2024, but the purchase did not take place in calendar year 2024 and must be reapproved for 2025. VanDeWalle said nothing about the proposed equipment changed since the prior approval. Board member Rex Zemke said he supported the plow purchase but opposed the wing attachment.
A motion by board member Bill Schremp, seconded by board member Sam Stroik, to approve the purchase from the Garage & Shop Capital Equipment Fund passed 5–2; the minutes record Deb Ehster and Rex Zemke as the dissenting votes. The minutes do not record an amendment separating the wing from the plow or a vendor name.
The approval allows DPW to proceed with procurement under the previously described scope; the minutes do not specify delivery timeline or warranty details.
