The Village of Rothschild board unanimously approved resolutions to discontinue portions of Becker Street and a portion of Peggy Lane (originally known as Hazel Street) following public hearings on May 12. The motions carried 7–0 after trustees closed the hearings and approved the resolutions as presented.
Administrator Ryan VanDeWalle told trustees this is a continuation of a process tied to earlier projects, including the 2011 Pflieger Street reconstruction and administrative cleanup efforts begun in 2018, and that the formal steps require review by the village attorney. During the Peggy Lane hearing, resident Ron Thoreson asked whether approval would be the final step in the discontinuance process; Chua Vang sought clarification about which parcel would become the resident’s responsibility; and Erik Mesunas asked whether taxes would increase if a property acquires the additional land. The board closed the hearing and approved the Peggy Lane discontinuance (motion by Jason Jablonski, second Bill Schremp; carried 7–0).
Both resolutions were recorded as approved without amendment. The minutes do not list subsequent parcel transfers, tax changes, or implementation steps; any conveyance, surveying, or tax‑assessment changes would occur through follow‑up administrative actions not described in the May 12 minutes.
