County renews lease for four transitional units to support adult drug court

Lancaster County commissioners on Feb. 3 approved a contract renewal to lease up to four transitional housing units at 2028 Washington Street from Sober Houses of Nebraska LLC for use by the adult drug court program.
Jeff Kilpatrick of Community Corrections described the item as a renewal and said the housing is funded through a grant that supports the adult drug court program. The board approved the contract; the agenda listed the cost as "not to exceed $1,800 per month for all four units." Kilpatrick said the arrangement continues previous work the county has done to provide transitional housing for participants in the adult drug court.
The contract supports community supervision and treatment goals by providing short-term housing for program participants who are transitioning from institutional settings or intensive court supervision to community-based living.
What’s next: the county will execute the renewal and continue to use grant funding to cover the lease while participants are enrolled in the program.
