Plain City names Kaufmans as Fourth of July grand marshals, introduces planning intern, and hears resident praise

Mayor Jody Carney opened the June 22 meeting by formally recognizing Rick and Janet Kaufman as the village's 2026 Fourth of July Grand Marshals, thanking them for volunteer leadership with events such as Fall Fest and the Easter Egg Hunt and noting their service in patriotic organizations.
Development Director Jason Stanford introduced summer intern Emily Shoup, a Virginia Tech graduate participating in the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission internship program who said she is pursuing a master's in urban planning and looks forward to serving the village this summer. Council welcomed Ms. Shoup.
During public comment, resident Barry Thomas thanked the Public Works, Fire, Police, and Parks and Recreation staff for maintenance, safety, and event work. Mayor Carney thanked Mr. Thomas for his comments. The meeting included routine staff updates on events, committee meeting schedules, police training and an upcoming car show whose proceeds will go to the Jonathan Alder Athletic Boosters.
