Plain City council approves multiple zoning updates, adopts cybersecurity program and resurfacing contract

Plain City council on June 22 approved a series of zoning and code amendments and multiple resolutions, taking several formal actions by unanimous consent.
On second reading the council approved Ordinances 19-2026 through 31-2026, which amend multiple chapters of Part Eleven of the Planning and Zoning Code including definitions and zoning district designations. Motions to approve these ordinances were regularly moved and seconded by councilmembers (for example, Mr. Sintz and Mr. Lewis frequently served as mover and seconder) and recorded as approved "all in favor." The approvals update zoning definitions, district designations, and rules of application across residential and industrial chapters.
The council also approved Resolution 21-2026, adopting the Village of Plain City’s Cybersecurity Program pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 9.64. Ms. Arnold moved approval of the resolution; Mr. Lewis seconded and the measure passed by unanimous consent.
Resolution 22-2026 authorized the Village Administrator to award the 2026 Village of Plain City Resurfacing Program contract to Chemcote Inc.; Mr. Sintz moved, Mr. Eudaily seconded, and the resolution passed. In tabled business, the council brought Resolution 20-2026 (a purchase agreement with Ballantyne Family LP for property at 0 US-42) off the table and approved it by unanimous consent.
The council also appointed Cody Kirkman to the Tree Commission (term to expire December 31, 2029) by motion of Mr. Sintz and second from Mr. Eudaily, which passed by unanimous consent. The meeting concluded with first readings for Ordinance 33-2026 and two resolutions authorizing applications to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources NatureWorks grant program.
