Grand County commissioners certify 2026 Republican primary results

The Grand County Board of Commissioners voted July 2 to certify the canvas of the 2026 Republican primary after an elections official presented the results and audit work.

Gabe, the staff member who presented the packet of official results, told the board the primary, held June 23, recorded 2,119 active registered Republican voters and “a turnout of 42 and 1/2%.” Gabe said his office compiled detailed statistics on how ballots were returned and confirmed required audits were completed. “I would thank Dana Van Horn and Melody Candler for coming in to do the hand count audit,” he said.

The certification followed a brief procedural agenda. The board first approved minutes from its Nov. 14, 2025 meeting by voice vote. Later, a commissioner moved to certify the Republican primary results; the motion was seconded by Mike and put to a voice vote. The board approved the certification.

No contested tallies, challenges, or changes to the results were reported in the record presented to the board. The meeting record shows the board had no additional questions after the audit summary.

With the canvass certified and no further business, Commissioner McCanless adjourned the meeting at 9:04 a.m.
