City staff reported June 23 that they will recruit two full-time and one half-time recreation program assistants (2.5 FTE) dedicated to Village Fest to provide ongoing vendor engagement and information booth support.
Faith, the event staff lead, said the change follows earlier use of temporary workers and that the city has coordinated with finance and human resources to add the positions to the continuation budget. "We are adding 2.5 recreation program assistants which will be solely dedicated to Village Fest," Faith said; recruitment for the new roles is open.
Staff also said the marketing contract with Trip Peppy Smith is nearing its end and that the department is reviewing options to continue marketing support into the next fiscal year while reusing assets and collateral developed this season.
Looking ahead, staff announced that the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will appear at Village Fest on July 9 at Takowitz and that July's festivities will kick off Independence Day weekend, including free snow cones, arts-and-crafts activities, a dive-in movie and Sunrise Park celebrations on July 4. The board confirmed the next meeting for July 14 and adjourned.
