Schueneman highlighted staff resilience and growth over the past year despite high pressure and heavy caseloads. Commissioner Melissa Hiatt asked whether the department receives outside-agency support for reunification, processes and case management. Schueneman said Vanguard is available for long-distance cases but is not utilized often, and that "the reunification process can take up to one year."
