Surry County authorizes one-year roadside litter pickup contract rebid

Public Works Director Jessica Montgomery provided an update on the county's roadside litter pickup program, which was initiated several years ago and is now up for rebid. She explained the contract is structured as a one-year agreement paid per mile for both shoulders of the roadway and that the program coordinates with the Sheriff's Office. Montgomery said the incumbent contractor, BCA, has provided efficient coverage without overlap. The Board voted unanimously to authorize Montgomery to send out contracts for one year.
Commissioner Van Tucker commended the Sheriff's Office and the program for its positive community impact during the discussion.
