DeRidder council adopts 2025 water pollution audit and authorizes sewer rehab bid ads

The DeRidder City Council voted May 26 to adopt a resolution accepting the 2025 Water Pollution Prevention Program (MWPP) audit and to authorize advertising bids for a Phase 2 sewer system rehabilitation project.

The adopted resolution notes the city’s permit (LA 0038407) requires annual audit submission and identifies one-time exceedances of the weekly and monthly average concentrations and two instances when 90% of the design flow was exceeded. The council resolved that city administration, authorized personnel and contractors will continue to monitor compliance through Discharge Monitoring Reports (DMRs) and make operational changes as necessary to achieve permit compliance.

Council members recorded unanimous yes votes among those present; Councilman Reynolds was recorded absent during the roll call on the measure. The council also approved a resolution authorizing advertisement for bids on the Water Sector Program Phase 2 sewer system rehabilitation (project listed in packet). The public bid opening is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. June 25, 2026, at DeRidder City Hall.

Why it matters: The audit’s findings signal intermittent permit noncompliance that the council directed administration to address through monitoring and operational adjustments, and the sewer rehabilitation procurement advances planned capital work intended to reduce future permit risks.
