License committee approves transient vendor license for Wicked Twist Food Truck at 181 Center Street

The Chicopee City Council License Committee voted May 28 to approve a transient vendors license for Wicked Twist Food Truck, allowing up to four vendors to sell at 181 Center Street on June 7, July 5, August 2 and September 6.

Allison Brown, owner of Wicked Twist Food Truck, told the committee she plans a monthly market day "where I bring in other local crafters, artists, and vendors to the area," and described participants such as crafters, woodworking, sea glass and dog-treat vendors and an additional food truck. Brown said regular hours will be 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with market Sundays 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and that she sometimes opens for breakfast at 8 a.m.

The Planning Department reported that the property is zoned Business B and recommended approval so long as the designated agent keeps accurate records for each seller (at minimum a name and address) and ensures only approved items are sold; it noted some food items may require separate approvals. The Building Department also recommended approval. Councilor George Balakier moved to approve the license "with restrictions as identified by the Planning Department," a motion seconded by Councilor Shane Brooks; the committee approved the motion.

The license allows up to four vendors per market day and applies to the dates specified in the application. The committee approved the license with the condition that the agent maintain seller contact information and ensure compliance with any required food approvals. The committee did not record additional enforcement steps at the meeting.
