President Timothy Cooper called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. and the board approved the agenda and the June 17, 2025 minutes before moving on to routine business. The board approved the June 2025 monthly finance reports on a recorded vote; Treasurer Eric W. Pickering gave a general update earlier in the meeting (the transcript does not include the Treasurer’s full remarks).
The board approved employment and activity contracts for the 2025–26 school year. Actions recorded in the meeting include the hiring of Carissa Grillo as part‑time food service (up to 25 hours weekly), the hiring of Tiffani Mayer as a high‑school library aide, and approval of a supplemental contract for Amber Boyd as varsity/reserve cheer advisor (50%), pending credentialing. The board also approved a slate of paid pupil‑activity positions (assistant and head coaches across football, softball and volleyball) and several volunteer coaches.
Policy and operational items approved included the Free or Reduced Price Meals Guidelines for the 2025–26 school year and the Substitute Teacher Contract and Classified Non‑Teaching Substitute Contract for the coming school year. The board also approved a classified substitute list on an as‑needed basis; that motion passed with one abstention from Mr. Rick Foss.
On benefits, the board authorized one month of premium holidays for the STARK C.O.G. health insurance plan for December 2025; the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved participation in the Career Coach Program of Pioneer Career and Technology Center to expand career and technical opportunities for Lucas High and Middle School students. Mr. Bill McFarland, a visitor and candidate seeking re‑election to the MOESC Board of Education, asked the board for signatures of support on his petition during the visitor recognition portion of the meeting. Board member Eric Steward thanked colleagues for moving the meeting start time to accommodate his schedule.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:58 p.m. by a unanimous recorded vote. The board certified fiscal sufficiency under Section 5705.412 of the Revised Code for the items recorded in the meeting.
