Lucas Local board approves hires, retirements and supplemental contracts; one no vote on softball coach resignation

The board approved multiple certified and classified hires and retirements, numerous supplemental contracts for 2025–26, and accepted the resignation of the head softball coach by 4–1 vote (Roger Maglott opposed).
At its June 17 meeting, the Lucas Local Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions including new certified contracts, retirements, classified contracts and supplemental activity contracts for 2025–26.
The board approved one‑year certified contracts (pending proper credentialing) for Dean George (High School Studies teacher) and Jamie Grover. The board accepted the certified retirement of Raquel Otero, elementary teacher, effective Aug. 1, 2025. Classified retirements approved included Katherine Henry (Food Service) effective Aug. 1, 2025 and Vickie Stallard (high school library) effective July 1, 2025.
The board approved classified staff contracts—one‑year retire/rehire contracts for Bruce McCammon and Mark Sauder; two‑year contracts for Misty Bilger, Karen Nolen, Steven Curren and Melvin Stickney; and continuing contract status for Lena Tetrault. The board also approved numerous supplemental contracts for coaching and extracurricular assignments (coaches, advisors and activity supervisors) pending credentialing and student participation criteria.
The board approved the supplemental resignation of Jaclyn Alt as head softball coach effective May 28, 2025. That motion passed on a 4–1 vote with Board Member Roger Maglott recorded as voting No and the other four members voting Yes.
All other personnel motions recorded in the meeting minutes passed on recorded roll call votes. The board adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
