Lucas Local board adopts K–7 curriculum, multiple handbooks and rescinds select policies for 2025–26

The board also approved multiple handbooks for next year, including the Preschool Handbook, revised Elementary School Handbook, revised Heritage Middle School Handbook, revised High School Handbook, Athletic Participation Handbook, Elementary/Middle School Staff Handbook and Lucas High School Faculty & Staff Handbook.
Separately, the board approved rescission of policy JED‑R (Student Absences and Excuses) and revisions to several policies including IGBLA (Promoting Parental Involvement), JED (Student Absences and Excuses), JFCJ (Weapons in the School), JECE (Student Withdrawal from School) and JEDA (Truancy). The board approved the Elementary/Middle School Principal and the High School Principal to serve as members of the Local Professional Development Committee and to receive payment as stipulated in the LTA negotiated agreement.
Visitor Mark Mayer asked for clarification about replacement textbooks and acceptance of the handbooks; the board noted the question for follow up. The board adjourned at 6:56 p.m.
