At its May 26 meeting the City of Fremont council approved several formal actions spanning land‑use code correction, redevelopment financing and a street reconstruction contract.
Ordinance 5741 (UDC amendment) — Planning Director Jeff Ray explained the measure adds the words "Highway 275 corridor" to the Unified Development Code's off‑premises electronic changeable message sign section to clarify the corridor addressed by the rule. Council approved ordinance 5741 by an 8‑0 final vote after suspending rules for final reading.
TIF financing for RVR Bank redevelopment — The Community Development Agency earlier recommended, and the council later approved, a TIF note authorizing $268,000 to reimburse demolition and site‑preparation costs for the RVR Bank redevelopment project. City Attorney Travis Jacott told the CDA and council the developer submitted incurred cost documentation; the council vote was 8‑0.
First Street reconstruction contract — Staff presented bids opened April 29, 2026 (range $222,650–$576,661) and said the apparent low bidder could not meet all requirements; staff recommended award to Sawyer Construction. The council approved the contract (reported amount approximately $465,032.90) 8‑0.
Consent items — The council consented to several mayoral appointments to advisory boards and approved other routine consent items; one consent motion was amended to remove items 9 and 12 for separate discussion.
