Cerro Gordo supervisors adopt FY2026–27 budget, approve $1.4M transfer and set Rockwell bid schedule

The Cerro Gordo County Board of Supervisors unanimously adopted the county’s fiscal year 2026–2027 budget during its April 27, 2026 meeting in Mason City. Chairman Casey Callanan convened the session at 10:00 a.m., and after a public hearing Vice Chairman Carl Ginapp moved, with Supervisor Chris Watts seconding, to approve the budget resolution, which the Board adopted without dissent.
The Board also approved Resolution 2026-22 to transfer $1,400,000 from the Rural Services Fund to the Secondary Roads Fund (Transfer #1444) and $673,717 from the General Fund to the Public Health Fund (Transfer #1445). Supervisor Chris Watts moved adoption of the interfund transfers, Ginapp seconded, and the Auditor was directed to correct county books and notify the Treasurer. All motions were recorded as passing unanimously.
Separately, the Board adopted Resolution 2026-24 to move forward with the Rockwell Secondary Roads Maintenance Facility – Soils Correction, Grading & Utilities Project and to set dates for bidding and a hearing. The resolution names Veenstra & Kimm, Inc. as the project engineers, fixes bid security at 5%, sets the date for receiving sealed bids as May 26, 2026 (bids to be filed prior to 10:00 a.m.), and schedules the public hearing and Board consideration for June 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. It directs the County Auditor to publish notice in the Globe Gazette and post notices in statewide plan-room and construction services and on an authorized internet site.
