The county's secondary roads presenter told the board that three bridge projects on the DOT map (numbered 1, 2 and 4 on the preliminary plan) now qualify for federal bridge funding and that a fourth project (number 3) is a shared bridge with Floyd County, which will split costs. The board voted to approve the five‑year construction plan and authorized the chair to sign the DOT materials so the projects can be progressed through federal processes.
The presenter also described equipment and site work: a training with the sheriff's department at the county's old garage building in Rockwell; demolition and salvage of that building with metal being recycled and the concrete slab being left in place for a planned solar project; and active tile‑work projects using a mid‑size mini excavator. The presenter reported ongoing mechanical problems with road equipment: one grader is out of service due to electrical/rear‑steering control issues and a motor grader has been sidelined for almost six weeks while a wiring harness is repaired.
Board members then approved the secondary roads FY27 budget and authorized the chair to sign.
