Deephaven council hears department updates on fire district budget, public works and administration

During department reports at the July 15 meeting, Councilmember Steve Erickson said the Excelsior Fire District is reviewing final 2025 budget drafts and expects to approve its 2025 annual budget at an upcoming meeting; Erickson said Chief Mackey will be invited to a future council meeting to review the proposed budget.
City Administrator and Special Counsel Dan Madsen reported that Public Works activities have included ash tree surveys, pothole patching and equipment repairs. Madsen also updated the council on the 2024 budget process, the Finance Clerk hiring process and noted the Events Committee meeting scheduled for August 14, 2024 had been postponed.
No formal action was taken on the department reports; the items were recorded for council awareness and future follow up.
