City Administrator and Special Counsel Dan Madsen presented a pavement management evaluation from engineering firm WSB at the Deephaven City Council meeting on July 15, saying the project inspected and rated roughly 30 miles of public and private roadways within the city.
City Engineer Stremel described the report's methodology and a color-coded map of the ratings. According to the presentation, approximately 2.1 miles of Deephaven roadways are in a 'failed' condition and about 7.6 miles are in 'good' repair; the remainder were described as in fair, good or excellent condition. Councilmembers and staff reviewed the map and discussed how the findings could be used to prioritize and schedule future street and drainage projects.
The council did not take formal action on the evaluation at the meeting. Councilmembers characterized the report as a planning tool to establish a process and multi-year plan for infrastructure maintenance and improvements. Staff indicated the assessment will inform future project planning and budgeting.
