District to launch strategic-planning surveys March 9; board reviews operations changes including Infinite Campus

Superintendent Mr. Ali presented the district's strategic-planning roadmap and four draft perception surveys the board will use to collect input across targeted audiences. The district plans to launch the surveys on March 9; board members were asked to review draft questions and suggest additions for students, staff or families.
Mr. Ali asked board members to consider signing up to attend community input sessions in pairs to avoid unintentionally creating a quorum: "The reason why that we're having the sign up ... is so that we don't unintentionally have a quorum," a board member said. Members discussed options for posting the sessions publicly to raise awareness while ensuring the gatherings remain informational rather than decision-making meetings.
The board also discussed MSBA board self-evaluation tools. Members recommended trying MSBA's free one-page overview option first and then considering a paid, deeper evaluation if needed.
On operations, Mr. Ali said the district will transition from JMC to Infinite Campus to improve family communication, online registration and payments. Onboarding and training will follow, and the district plans to use makeup snow hours for staff training. "Infinite Campus is our new student information system," Mr. Ali said, noting costs are expected to be similar to the current system and that a project manager would guide implementation and data migration.
Mr. Ali also clarified the six eligibility markers the district uses to identify students eligible for voluntary preschool funding, including free or reduced-price lunch eligibility, English-learner status, homelessness, foster-care classification, developmental risk, or parent circumstances (for example, incarceration or migrant status).
