Medfield 375th parade route and fundraising plan outlined; organizers $35,000 short of goal

Medfield — The Select Board heard an update May 12 on the town’s 375th-anniversary parade and post-parade celebration, set for Oct. 17, 2026.
Town Clerk and parade committee member Marian Benaldi said the parade will begin at Medfield High School, proceed down South Street and Pound Street toward the Peak House, turn onto Main Street and continue to North Street, where the procession will begin to disperse near Dale Street and Memorial School. A post-parade celebration at Town Pond, in partnership with Bell Forge, will include live music, food trucks and vendors.
“Right now we have a core group of six people,” Benaldi said, describing a volunteer-run organizing team and noting the event is regional in scope and will include multiple marching bands, Clydesdales and historical groups.
Benaldi said the parade planning committee has raised roughly $90,000 to date and is about $35,000 short of its fundraising goal; the effort remains fundraising driven. She asked Select Board members to help spread information through town channels and said the committee is coordinating closely with police, fire and DPW on safety, road closures and traffic flow during the parade and the 1–4 p.m. park party.
Next steps: The committee will continue fundraising and community outreach through summer. Benaldi said organizers will distribute route and parking information in advance and coordinate staging and road closures with public-safety officials.
