Galena officials report development progress, equipment upgrades and community events plans

Village Administrator Tom Marshall and Zoning Officer Matt Shock provided updates on construction, maintenance and administrative operations at the May 19 council meeting.
Marshall reported the Village is activating a new RingCentral phone system, has completed street sweeping and crack sealing, selected Decker as the contractor for a speed table project (agreement signed), and finished demolition at 170 Harrison Street with final grading pending. He also said a sewer rate and capacity study is underway. Zoning Officer Matt Shock said Blackhawk Phase-D construction debris has been cleaned up and the subdivision is ready for final acceptance; Miller Farm Section 1 public infrastructure is complete up to the pump station (which is under construction), 12 of 33 parcels are in permitting, and Section 2 and 3A plans have been approved and construction has started. Columbia Gas completed the main gas line installation and has obtained service-line permits for houses in the development.
Fiscal Officer Michelle Dearth reported one cemetery plot sale and one foundation poured. In other business, Council Member Zach Hopper said the Health District did not receive grant funding for a second tire-collection round; the Records Commission reviewed retention policy and is working with the Ohio History Connection; Kathy Krupa reported that BST&G Station #2 construction is underway with the construction trailer on site and significant exterior plan changes; Josh Porter gave details and reminders for the May 26 Memorial Day event.
