West Milwaukee board narrowly approves historic preservation ordinance, 4-3
Summary
The Village Board voted 4-3 on March 17 to add a chapter on historic preservation to West Milwaukee’s municipal code (01-O25) after the Plan Commission forwarded the ordinance for approval.

The roll call recorded Ayes from Trustees Schaefer, Hill and Edgar and Village President Stalewski; Trustees Ragonese, Schuettke and Greenfield voted Nay.
Board members who voted in favor said the code chapter would provide a structure for identifying and protecting historic resources in the village. Those who opposed the measure did not provide extended remarks on the record during the vote segment.
The ordinance now becomes part of the municipal code; the Plan Commission and village staff will carry out the next administrative steps to implement the ordinance as written and bring any related procedures back to the board as needed.
